Lulu's Letters

 Good afternoon, flowers!

🌷
What a swift September it's been, hasn't it? Or perhaps it is for me being my birth month?
It seems as though the month had only just started and now, it's more than halfway over..! As the seasons begin to change and the weather begins to cool off here in the Western hemisphere, the days will start to slow, too!

And so, today I thought I'd share with all of you my birthday gets from my dear Prince! After pestering me for weeks on end about what I'd like as a birthday gift, I finally settled on a little Liz Lisa haul, filled with pieces I'd been wishing for! ☆
I hope you'll find them as dreamy as I do!

Tiny Swan Ballerina柄スカート in ホワイト(101)

Tiny Swan Ballerina Print Skirt in White (101)
107-4018-0

As many of you may know, last year I purchased the pink colourway of this dress upon release after  immediately falling in love with the delicate and darling details..! After a brief scare in which I was certain the pretty pompom was real fur, the LL community received confirmation that it was in fact fake, and I felt such relief! Ever since owning the pink version, which is a dusty, purple-hue compared to their older releases, I'd dreamt of the white version with it's icy blue and pale pink colour combo..!

Not particularly in need of another long-sleeved version of the same dress, I opted to go for the very last available skirt in the white I'd dreamt of! I was shocked to find that even a year later, there was one piece left on the website; it must have been waiting for me..! I fell in love all over again when I opened up the parcel, that feeling from its first release washing over me again!

Much like the OP version, the skirt has shirring at the back waist for a nice silhouette and extra room for any who may need it! Rather than a detachable bow, the skirt has two tightly sewn velvet bows with the pompoms attached, perfect for both tucking blouses or wearing a jumper overtop of! I've yet to decide if I prefer coordinating it tucked or untucked..!

Every dainty detail about this particular patterned piece makes me feel like a Winter princess, graceful and gorgeous! With elements of both old and new LL alike, it goes without saying that this pattern has grown to be one of my favourite newer designs of Liz Lisa's..! 🦢🩰

リボンビジューカチューシャ in ピンク(110)

Ribbon Bijou Head Band in Pink (110)

Of course, I couldn't resist getting an accessory to match with my princess coordinate I had in mind for the Tiny Swan Ballerina skirt! Perhaps one of the most underrated yet important parts of any coordinate, the right accessories can entirely change the feel of an outfit, or in this case, enhance it! A princess almost always has a crown after all, right? ♡

The ribbon bijou headband was a must for many upon its release; but having purchased a similar one from Mille Fille Closet's sale a few weeks prior, I wasn't in a rush to secure one myself. As time went on, I thought on how much I would have preferred the Liz Lisa version (which wasn't released until after I'd bought the MFC one!) with it's gold band and warmer hued ribbon; but I couldn't justify an order simply for the headband itself, and knew I'd need to be a bit more patient and hold out for the next order I made, if it was still available..! And to my luck, it was! It's funny how that works out sometimes, isn't it?

Alternating between rainbow crystal hearts and clear round crystals, it's somehow both simple and extravagant no matter what angle you look at it from, because it's such an eye-catching design! I'll certainly have to handle it with care as the bijou crystals are only held in place by prongs and in my experience with newer LL releases, aren't always the most sturdy; but if this heart can learn to be tender, these hands can, too. ♡

The ribbed ribbon on the other hand is far sturdier and radiates a more mature girly atmosphere compared with the longer MFC ribbon bijou headband, which makes both fun to wear for different moods! The pale pink shade works well with both the more warm-hued, older Liz Lisa pinks and the cooler-toned, newer pinks; so rest assured this little tiara will coordinate well with any princess attire~

ビジューストラップ2連リボンパンプス in ピンク(110)

Bijou Strap Double Ribbon Pumps in Pink (110)
115-9601-0

I've never considered myself to be a shoes girl or a handbag girl or any type of collector girl, really..! I like to have a reason for every piece in my closet, because I find that connecting with the clothes I wear, rather than simply collecting clothes to wear, helps me to be a more conscious shopper and create more heartfelt outfits! Of course, if you're in a position to collect and it's something you're passionate about, I say follow your dreams to wherever they may take you..!

When the bijou pumps were previewed in the Chocolat pattern release, I had high hopes that for the first time in quite some time, Liz Lisa was going to release a pair of pumps to replace my older, much worn Many Ribbon pumps from 2017..! Much like previous bijou pump releases, I also had high hopes for both a pink and beige colourway to choose from and while I wasn't lucky enough for that option, I WAS lucky enough to secure a pair in pink!

When I received these pumps, I was in awe at the beautiful details, from the removeable bijou ribbons to the lace up backs and the scalloped rounded toe! While the shade of pink was a bit more on the grey side, especially compared to the many ribbons pumps (2017) or even the newer ribbon strap heels (2020), against the pure white lace and crystal detailing, it wasn't all too colourless a pink! In fact, for once, the real shade is quite comparable to the stock photo..!

Much like many of their current pieces, the bijou of these pumps creates both a girly and flashy atmosphere that can be styled to be playful or more mature! The lace up detailing of the back is a nice touch that I've noted always yields compliments from others about how unique my shoes are..!

Perhaps one of my favourite features of these and several of their new releases includes the ability to remove and rearrange extras like the second set of ribbons on the ankle strap! From changing the position of the ribbon to using them as matching hairbows, I love creating new styles and uses for them, as the heart bijou make them the perfect accessory!

As you can slightly see in the above photos, the bijou straps are lovely against the lace detailing; however much like the bijou headband, make for worry that the pieces won't necessarily hold... Scuffing and marks are commonplace for shoes looked after even with the most care, but missing bijou or crystal detailing is much harder to watch for! Of course, this was something I was aware of going into my purchase and can only hope that the prongset pretties will stay snug!

One minor detail and complaint I do have with these darling pumps is something I know many Liz Lisa gals struggle with: the fit. Despite consistently buying the M size and comparing to ensure the shoes are 23.5cm as stated on the website, perhaps due to the nature of the straps, these pumps fit a bit snug..! The straps are pulled through a loophole at the back and when one is made larger, the other grows smaller, including the one around the ankle. Because the straps are rather thick, the loophole is rather rigid and tugs on the straps with each step, creating a rubbing sensation on the back of the heel.

Perhaps with a little more wear, this will loosen over time? For now, I'll be sure to wear over the ankle socks and break them in slowly...
Good things take time, after all. ♡

And that concludes my little haul of goodies my sweet Prince spoilt me with this past birthday..! I know that I am so very lucky, not only to have been gifted such treats but to be able to share these photos with all of you! I hope that whether you're debating a purchase yourself or just looking for inspiration, my photos can bring you a smile today and always.

Until next time!

 Hello, sweet flowers!

🌷
As we begin another new month heading towards the end of the year, I thought I'd write up another something sweet to share with everyone today! Grab a cup of tea or coffee and join me for a tasty treat that's sure to have your mouth watering! 💌

Have you ever eaten something so delicious that you almost regret each bite, knowing there's one less bite than before? Admittedly, that probably sounds a bit silly considering how many delicacies the world has to offer..! But when one combines delicious food with heaps of love, it brings out something magical in a flavour that can't be achieved with just store-bought ingredients alone.

If you've been following me for any means of time now, you'll surely have heard me mention my favourite local eatery by the name of CheChe's Vegan. Run by the ever so beautiful, ever so talented Tanesha, this vegan pop-up 'popped up' on my radar sometime mid-last year, when the pandemic kept many of us indoors and exploring our own creative food palettes.

Eager to enjoy a little time out of the house and support a small business during tough times, we packed up the boot of the car with blankets and pillows and perhaps the least cuddly of stuffed animals, Miss Junie, and set off for a lakeside picnic with our first ever CheChe's Vegan meal.
I'd mentioned at the time, we didn't have the most success with the unexpected downpour raining on our lakeside parade; but one thing was surely a hit: the food.

Ever since that late Summer encounter, we've been hooked on Tanesha's home cooking, and of course, her! We make it a point to safely venture to as many pop-up's, events, or markets she vends at, if not for the food but to see her shining face. No matter how many times we shyly saunter up, she warmly welcomes us with a hug, a smile, and excitement to fill our bellies with yummy food!

And so when she kindly offered us a special dessert to try, one not yet on the menu, I thought that perhaps, maybe I was dreaming? 💭 A special treat from my favourite local chef? It was sure to be the most delicious thing I'd ever tasted and spoiler: it was.

The moment I laid eyes on this CheChe Special Vegan Berry Cheesecake, I couldn't wait to get it home for a few photos alongside my favourite porcelain pieces..! Something as beautifully crafted as this dessert deserved its own photoshoot before being eaten up in just a few days (perhaps less if I had just a smidgen less self-control)!

Fluffy, creamy cheesecake base, perfectly sweetened, and glazed with berry compote baked into a golden crust: all entirely vegan and all entirely for me. Well, alright, that's a bit of a stretch on the truth, even if I wish it wasn't...
I'd never tasted cheesecake, vegan or non-vegan, as delicious as this. One filled with so much...love? Passion? Heart? With every bite, I realized that food like this (and all of her dishes) is more than just about how it tastes...it's how it makes you feel. Food from the heart, for the heart. ♡

Writing up this little post had me wishing I could have just another bite to share with all of you..! I hope you can forgive me for not saving any this time around and instead, I hope you were able to enjoy my waffling words! Please be sure to give CheChe's Vegan a little peek if you're in the mood for some heartfelt, homemade vegan cooking with a smile.
